Jasmine rice originates from the Philippines, bred and tested in the US. Jasmine rice was officially imported into Vietnam in 1992 and is widely grown in the Mekong Delta.
Jasmine rice is often grown by people in two seasons: Summer - Fall and Winter - Spring, because this season will produce high yields and a more stable harvest.
Jasmine rice is characterized by long grains, clear white, hard stems and few flat grains. When cooked, it has a delightful aroma and the seeds have a flexible & soft texture, they stay soft even when cooled. Each grain is usually about 6.8mm long.
